From October 22 to 24, the “14th China International New Energy Summit Forum and the 2020 Datong Energy Revolution Summit,” hosted by the New Energy Chamber of Commerce of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, concluded successfully in Datong, Shanxi Province. With the theme “Transformation and Comprehensive Reform: Paving a New Path,” the summit brought together over 300 participants, including senior officials from relevant national ministries and commissions, renowned experts and scholars, industry leaders, and representatives of international energy organizations, to discuss strategies for the development of new energy.

Wang Guowen, President of Operations at Talesun Photovoltaic, was invited to participate in the conference’s thematic forum titled “Smart Leadership, Transformation and Innovation,” among other sessions. The PV Leaders’ Dialogue, moderated by Wang Jin—Director of the Energy Department at the National Center for International Cooperation under the NDRC, President of the Guohé Intercontinental Energy Consulting Institute, and Chairman of the China Distributed Energy Innovation and Application Alliance—brought together industry leaders and senior executives from Longi, Tongwei, Suntech Power, Zhengtai, Silbao Technology, PwC, and other prominent companies. Together, they discussed innovation and transformation in the sector and explored the new opportunities emerging from the ongoing reshaping of China’s photovoltaic energy industry.

During the conversation, Wang Guowen offered the following insightful remarks on “How photovoltaic companies can achieve transformative innovation”:

“As of the first half of 2020, cumulative installed photovoltaic capacity had surpassed 670 GW, marking a new stage in PV development. Beyond technological innovation and product advancement, I believe it is equally important to proactively pursue transformative innovations in emerging opportunities and novel business models—such as agrivoltaics. Agrivoltaics effectively addresses key challenges in advancing a low‑carbon economy, conserving energy, reducing emissions, and developing green, clean energy sources. Among the many renewable energy options, solar power stands out as an inexhaustible, sustainable clean energy source with tremendous growth potential. Against the global backdrop of promoting energy efficiency, environmental protection, and a low‑carbon economy, the agrivoltaics model holds vast development prospects and market potential. By utilizing land that would otherwise be used for ground‑mounted solar farms, agrivoltaics enables on‑site power conversion and local consumption, thereby reducing transmission losses and significantly boosting overall energy utilization. It also helps overcome the traditional drawbacks of agriculture—high capital investment and long payback periods. The construction and operation of rooftop solar installations can help spread the costs of greenhouse infrastructure while enhancing the quality, functionality, and service life of the structures, thus shortening the investment return cycle. Since its inception, Talesun Photovoltaic has implemented “Poverty‑Alleviation PV Farms” projects totaling 1.2 GW across more than 40 impoverished counties nationwide, lifting 750,000 impoverished households out of poverty. Talesun longstanding efforts in poverty alleviation have earned widespread recognition within the industry.”

Talesun Photovoltaic has consistently pursued a ‘PV+’ development model, proactively expanding into new markets and addressing emerging needs for the practical application of next‑generation photovoltaic technologies.”
