Under the significant opportunity presented by the Belt and Road International Cooperation Summit Forum, Talesun Photovoltaic of Zhongli Group attended the China–Argentina Business Negotiation Event on May 16, 2017, in Beijing. During the event, Argentine President Mauricio Macri met with Mr. Wang Baixing, Chairman of Zhongli Group. Also in attendance were Mr. Gerardo Morales, Governor of Argentina’s Jujuy Province, along with his delegation, as well as Talesun Photovoltaic Vice Presidents Liu Yongsheng and Qin Lijun, and Mr. Shen Gangyi, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd.
Under the auspices of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, Zhongli Group–Talesun Photovoltaic attended the China–Argentina Business Negotiation Event on May 16, 2017, in Beijing. During the event, Argentine President Mauricio Macri met with Mr. Wang Baixing, Chairman of Zhongli Group. Also in attendance were Mr. Gerardo Morales, Governor of Argentina’s Jujuy Province, along with his delegation, as well as Talesun Photovoltaic Vice Presidents Liu Yongsheng and Qin Lijun, and Mr. Shen Gangyi, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd.
In 2015, Talesun Photovoltaic began monitoring the 300 MW Jujuy Province photovoltaic power project in Argentina. Together with the state-owned enterprises PowerChina and Shanghai Electric Power Construction, it formed a joint bidding consortium and secured the construction contract for the project in August 2016. A formal 300 MW contract has now been signed, under which Talesun Photovoltaic, PowerChina, and Shanghai Electric Power Construction will collaborate on the project’s implementation.
During the Belt and Road Initiative talks, Argentine President Mauricio Macri stated that he attaches great importance to the project and hopes it will be connected to the grid by May 2018. The Caucaí Solar Project is the first one awarded through an open government tender in Argentina, with more projects slated for development in the future. He expressed hope that Talesun Photovoltaic and Shanghai Electric Power Construction would complete the project on schedule, thereby contributing to China–Argentina economic cooperation.
During the negotiations, Wang Baixing, Chairman of Zhongli Group, expressed his delight at jointly winning, alongside PowerChina, the first major project awarded through an open tender by the Argentine government. He also noted the honor of participating in this landmark, cutting-edge initiative. The 300-megawatt project will exclusively utilize tracking-mounted racking systems, and the successful execution of this bidding process has underscored Talesun Photovoltaic’s advanced product capabilities and the strengths of its comprehensive solutions. Located in Cochinale, Jujuy Province, Argentina, the site boasts one of the world’s most favorable solar irradiation conditions. Moreover, the project is backed by preferential financing provided by the Export-Import Bank of China, making it a flagship example of China–Argentina strategic cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Liu Yongsheng, Vice President of Talesun Photovoltaic, briefed the attendees of the business forum, highlighting the company’s extensive experience in delivering end-to-end solutions that encompass power‑plant design, EPC contracting, intelligent operation‑and‑maintenance management systems, and agricultural technologies. The company’s pioneering “Smart PV + Tech‑Driven Agriculture” initiative has already been rolled out across global markets and is currently being developed in Japan, Thailand, Mexico, and other regions, earning high praise from governments and strategic partners alike.
