From December 4 to 5, 2020, the Jiangsu Province Photovoltaic Industry Collaborative Development Conference, hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Photovoltaic Industry Association, was held in Nanjing. Centered on the themes of collaboration, innovation, supply-chain strengthening, and quality enhancement, the conference brought together industry experts, established a platform for cooperation and exchange, and jointly explored the sector’s development trajectory, outlining a blueprint for the healthy growth of Jiangsu’s photovoltaic industry. During the event, the 2020 Jiangsu Provincial Photovoltaic Industry Association Photovoltaic Science and Technology Awards were presented. Talesun Photovoltaic was awarded second prize for its key technologies and application projects related to lightweight bifacial solar cells and modules. The lightweight bifacial cells and modules developed by Talesun Photovoltaic incorporate low‑complexity, high‑efficiency materials.

During the event, the 2020 Jiangsu Provincial Photovoltaic Industry Association Photovoltaic Science and Technology Awards were presented. Talesun Photovoltaic was awarded the second prize in the science and technology category for its project, “Key Technologies and Applications of Lightweight Bifacial Solar Cells and Modules.”
Talesun Photovoltaic’s lightweight bifacial cells and modules incorporate low‑complexity, high‑efficiency quantum tunneling passivation technology, patterned metal‑grid passivated contact technology, crystalline silicon bifacial cell power‑generation technology, multi‑busbar semiconductor bonding interconnection technology, lightweight, highly reliable module encapsulation, and advanced bifacial module design. These innovations deliver high photoelectric conversion efficiency, exceptional reliability, reduced overall module weight, bifacial power generation, and lower costs. Moreover, the use of a transparent backsheet further lightens the module, simplifying installation and lowering the levelized cost of electricity for photovoltaic systems. The products are well suited for large‑scale ground‑mounted plants, distributed systems, smart microgrids, and other PV applications. Their bifacial operation is particularly advantageous in extreme environments such as deserts and snowy regions, mitigating the impact of dust, snow, and ice on power output.
At the concurrently held high-level dialogue on “High-Quality Collaborative Development of the Photovoltaic Industry,” Wang Guowen, President of Talesun Photovoltaic Operations, attended as an invited guest and shared his insights on the opportunities and challenges in a grid‑parity market.
Wang Guowen noted that the affordable‑price market presents both opportunities and challenges: falling prices are accelerating capacity expansion across the industry chain, further boosting market concentration, and paving the way for a more mature and stable market going forward. Recently, numerous module manufacturers have successively unveiled high‑power 182‑mm and 210‑mm products, along with plans to ramp up production of these higher‑output offerings. Talesun has consistently maintained a sense of vigilance; this year, we launched our 182‑mm high‑power “Qilin” module, with a peak power output of 590 W. The corresponding 3 GW production capacity at our Zibo, Shandong facility is slated to enter commercial operation by the end of this year. Moreover, declining prices are likely to accelerate the development of mature PV markets and could spur the emergence of additional nascent markets, helping Talesun secure several hundred‑megawatt‑scale contracts in emerging regions this year.
The award is a well-deserved recognition of Talesun Photovoltaic’s advanced technological innovation and its robust capabilities in industrial-scale deployment.
