On October 15, 2017, at the APACE Asia-Pacific Energy 2017 “Photovoltaics Plus” New Business Model Innovation Conference—co-hosted by the Asia-Pacific Energy Think Tank and the China Distributed Energy Network—the organizing committee conferred upon Zhongli Group–Talesun Photovoltaic Technology Co., Ltd. the honorary titles of “2017 China ‘Photovoltaics Plus’ Leader Award” and “2017 China ‘Photovoltaics Plus’ Smart PV + Science‑Based Agriculture Demonstration Base Award.” This follows the company’s earlier recognition at last month’s inaugural China Energy Industry Poverty Alleviation Summit Forum, where it was awarded the “China Energy Industry Poverty Alleviation Model Innovation Award,” marking yet another prestigious honor for the company.
The conference is co-hosted by the Asia-Pacific Energy Think Tank and the China Distributed Energy Network, organized by Beijing Asia-Pacific Future Energy Investment Co., Ltd., and supported by Focus Media, Hangmei Media, and Binchen Media as media partners. Photovoltaic companies including Talesun Solar, Sungrow Power Supply, Aikang Group, Tongwei New Energy, and Zhengtai Energy serve as supporting sponsors.
The conference was themed “Driving and Leading,” and by examining the development of new business models that foster symbiotic integration between photovoltaics and other industries, it sought to advance innovative growth in the “PV Plus” sector. Li Junfeng, former director of the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation, delivered a speech at the event.
During the conference’s dialogue session, Zhongli Group engaged in a discussion with industry experts on photovoltaic-plus technological innovation and industry development trends, highlighting its innovations in the “PV+” space and the achievements it has attained in recent years through poverty‑alleviation initiatives leveraging solar energy.
Since 2015, Zhongli Group has continuously explored and innovated in the “PV+” space, successively launching its “Agriculture‑Photovoltaics Three‑Generation” initiative. This includes: the first generation—world’s pioneering “Smart PV + Tech‑Driven Agriculture” project, which integrates photovoltaic technology with large‑scale agriculture to boost incomes and alleviate poverty; the second generation—China’s original “PV Farm for Impoverished Villages” model, introducing a new, county‑wide approach to targeted poverty alleviation; and, staying true to its mission and driving ongoing innovation, the third generation—the industry’s first residential PV solutions: Zhongli·Jia [Jialibao] (a rooftop solar power system for households) and [Jianongbao] (a smart, home‑based solar farm), dedicated to building family‑oriented solar farms.
China’s residential photovoltaic market is fiercely competitive, with numerous players vying for rooftop space—yet finding suitable rooftops remains a challenge. The Zhongli·Jia “Jianongbao” project takes a different approach, offering an integrated “PV + agriculture” solution for households. It sets up miniature PV farms in front of and behind farmers’ homes, enabling the simultaneous generation of income from crop cultivation, livestock raising, and leisure activities alongside solar power. This allows even families whose rooftops are unsuitable for installation to enjoy steady dividends over a 20-year period, delivering targeted poverty alleviation directly to individual households. Industry experts believe this initiative has opened up a new pathway for the sustainable development of distributed PV in China, creatively expanding the market capacity for residential PV by more than two to three times. Its three key innovations are: poverty alleviation, wealth creation, and smart interconnectivity.
Going forward, Zhongli Group will continue to pioneer a series of “PV+” business‑model innovations, fully leveraging its role as a trailblazer to drive the integrated development of photovoltaics with other industries.
