On November 12, 2017, the Jiangsu Provincial Commission of Economy and Information Technology convened seven leading experts in the photovoltaic industry from research institutions including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Southeast University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Sichuan University, Soochow University, and the Jiangsu Photovoltaic Industry Association to conduct a new‑technology appraisal of Suzhou Talesun Photovoltaic Technology Co., Ltd.’s recently developed “diamond‑wire‑cutting multicrystalline black silicon cells and modules” and “high‑efficiency, low‑cost multi‑busbar cells and modules.” The appraisal committee heard presentations from the project team, reviewed relevant documentation, inspected the production site, and, following deliberation and questioning, unanimously concluded that both technological products are at the forefront domestically and approved their passage in the new‑technology appraisal.

The two new technologies—“diamond wire–cutting for multicrystalline black silicon cells and modules” and “high‑efficiency, low‑cost multi‑busbar cells and modules”—feature low cost, high efficiency, long service life, and high power output, meeting the requirements of the national Leading Runner Program. Moreover, the successful development and deployment of these innovations are of great significance for expanding the company’s market reach and enhancing its brand competitiveness, thereby contributing to the achievement of grid parity for photovoltaic products by 2020.

The company has consistently prioritized innovation, regarding new products and technologies as its primary driving force. Its R&D achievements have been widely recognized by industry experts. To date, 18 of the company’s new products have been officially certified as high‑tech products of Jiangsu Province, and nine new products have passed expert panel evaluations for new technologies and products, earning unanimous praise from the reviewers.

Dr. Ni Zhichun, the company’s vice president, pointed out that, in line with national policy to achieve grid parity by 2020, companies are required to continuously reduce costs, improve efficiency, and drive innovation. In alignment with its long-term development strategy, the company will proactively develop new technologies and products, ensuring thorough preparation for realizing grid parity. Notably, the “high-efficiency, low-cost multi-busbar (MBB) solar cells and modules” project is expected to complete full-scale production on a 700 MW line by the end of 2017 or early 2018. This represents the largest MBB module smart production line currently operating in China and will spearhead the rapid advancement of high‑power, high‑reliability modules across the industry.
