Recently, Turkey’s largest hydropower–photovoltaic hybrid power plant—the Cengiz Bingöl 80 MW photovoltaic project—has successfully been connected to the grid and begun generating electricity. The project is invested in by Cengiz Energy, a subsidiary of Cengiz Holding, one of Turkey’s largest energy investment companies. Talesun Photovoltaic supplied high-efficiency half-cell monocrystalline PV modules for the installation; these modules employ a half-cut cell technology that not only significantly reduces internal interconnection losses but also lowers module operating temperatures, thereby boosting power output in Turkey’s installation region. With an installed capacity of 80 MW and spanning 120 hectares, the project is located in Bingöl Province, Turkey.
Recently, Turkey’s largest hydropower–photovoltaic hybrid power plant—the Cengiz Turkey Bingöl 80 MW PV project—has successfully been connected to the grid and begun generating electricity. The project is invested in by Cengiz Energy, a subsidiary of Cengiz Holding, one of Turkey’s largest energy investment companies. Talesun Photovoltaic supplied high-efficiency half-cell monocrystalline PV modules for the project; these modules employ a half-cut cell technology that not only significantly reduces internal interconnection losses but also lowers module operating temperatures, thereby boosting power output in Turkey’s installation region.

This photovoltaic project has an installed capacity of 80 MW and spans 120 hectares, located in Bingöl Province, Turkey. Despite facing significant challenges—including tight upstream raw-material supply and volatile industry‑wide price fluctuations—Talesun Photovoltaic successfully completed component deliveries on schedule, ensuring the project’s smooth progress. This demonstrates the company’s commitment to delivering on its obligations and its strong contract‑execution capabilities, thereby safeguarding the timely grid connection of the project.
As a leading solar company in the Turkish market, Talesun Photovoltaic has maintained close collaboration with Cengiz Energy, contributing to Turkey’s photovoltaic industry. To date, it has signed photovoltaic module supply agreements totaling 180 MW with Cengiz Energy, which are being deployed across a variety of project types, including hydropower–photovoltaic hybrid systems, self‑consumption installations, and residential PV power plants.
Ahmet Cengiz, President of Cengiz Holding Energy Group, stated: “This is Turkey’s first—and the world’s second-largest—hydropower–photovoltaic hybrid power plant.”
Mr. Mustafa Eskiçırak, General Manager of Cengiz Energy, stated: “Talesun Photovoltaic is dedicated to manufacturing high‑quality PV modules, offering professional services and enjoying a strong industry reputation. We have established a long‑term cooperative relationship with them. Moving forward, the two parties will engage in in-depth collaboration across areas such as PV power plant construction and PV system solutions, leveraging our respective strengths for mutual benefit and win‑win outcomes, and jointly driving the growth of Turkey’s PV market.”
Dong Shuguang, President of Talesun Photovoltaic, stated: “We are honored to supply high-efficiency photovoltaic modules for Turkey’s largest hydropower–photovoltaic hybrid power plant. Over the past few years, as a leading supplier of PV modules in Turkey, Talesun Photovoltaic has built a strong customer base. We believe this project will further open up channels for our high-efficiency modules to enter the European market.”

According to data from Turkey’s Electricity Transmission Company (TEIAS), the country added 398 MW of new photovoltaic capacity in the first quarter of 2021. The YEKA tender program, feed-in tariff policies, and net metering schemes have all contributed to the rapid growth of Turkey’s PV market. To date, Turkey’s cumulative installed PV capacity has surpassed 7.6 GW, and it is projected that new PV installations in 2021 will exceed 1.4 GW, underscoring the sector’s substantial growth potential.
Since the beginning of this year, Talesun photovoltaic module sales have continued to grow in the European and Asian markets, while also winning favor in international markets such as North America. Looking ahead, Talesun Photovoltaics will further strengthen its collaboration with local partners, steadily expand the scale of these partnerships, and continue to increase its share of the global PV module market.
