The first 182mm‑size photovoltaic cell from Talesun Thailand plant has recently rolled off the production line, marking a new milestone in the technological upgrade and modernization of the company’s Thai PV manufacturing base. With this achievement, Talesun overseas production capacity has fully entered the era of mass‑producing large‑format solar cells.
Due to their larger surface area and higher power output, large‑size solar cells can significantly reduce the balance‑of‑system (BOS) costs of photovoltaic projects, making them an emerging industry trend. As a result, market demand for high‑efficiency, large‑size cells and modules is rapidly increasing. According to PV InfoLink, in 2021, 182 mm and 210 mm cell sizes are expected to account for 23% and 28%, respectively. Looking ahead, the market share of large‑size cells is set to continue expanding.
