As a key country driving the European Union’s energy transition, the event has been organized for many years and has become an annual highlight for professionals in the renewable energy sector.
In May this year, the European Union unveiled its “Repower EU” energy plan, aiming to reduce its dependence on Russian energy and accelerate the transition to green energy by expanding renewable sources and increasing liquefied natural gas imports. To promote the development and deployment of photovoltaic (PV) energy, the EU has specifically formulated the EU Solar Energy Strategy, which targets 320 GW of grid‑connected PV capacity by 2025 and 600 GW by 2030. This implies that, between 2022 and 2030, the EU will add nearly 50 GW of new PV capacity annually. By 2030, when combined with installations in non‑EU countries, Europe’s total PV capacity is expected to approach 650 GW, accounting for 31% of the region’s overall energy mix.
In recent years, France has emerged as a highly attractive market for photovoltaics. As the second-largest energy consumer in Europe, France has set ambitious targets in its Multi-Year Energy Plan and the “France’s Energy Strategy to 2050,” aiming for 20.1 GW of installed PV capacity by 2023, 35.1–44 GW by 2028, and 100 GW by 2050. Moreover, France was the first European country to introduce carbon‑footprint requirements for PV modules, mandating that PV projects above 100 kW use modules with a carbon footprint below 550 kg CO₂‑eq/kWp.
