On November 7–8, 2023, the “2023 China (Linyi) High-Quality Development Conference on New Energy” (hereinafter referred to as the “Conference”), jointly hosted by the Linyi Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Linyi Municipal People’s Government, and the Guoneng Energy Research Institute, and organized by the Lanshan District Committee of the Communist Party of China in Linyi, the Lanshan District People’s Government of Linyi, and International Energy Network, was grandly held in Linyi, Shandong Province—a renowned revolutionary base area. The Conference focused primarily on how to achieve high-quality development in new energy sectors such as photovoltaics, power generation, energy storage, and hydrogen energy, with the aim of providing more solutions for building a national new‑energy system.
At the conference, Zheng Fangneng, a second‑level inspector with the Major Projects Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Liu Xuejun, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Provincial Energy Administration, stated that Shandong Province has placed the development of new energy at an even more prominent position. The province has launched ten major projects to achieve carbon peak and nine key initiatives for energy transformation and upgrading, while also planning five large‑scale clean‑energy bases, each with a capacity of over 10 million kilowatts. The gathering of industry leaders at this event will play a crucial role in accelerating Shandong’s energy transition, enhancing the supply of new energy, improving its ability to absorb renewable sources, and building a new‑type energy system.
