China International Clean Energy Expo

On September 4, the 2019 China International Clean Energy Expo opened in Hangzhou. With the theme “Integrated Development of Clean Energy,” the event focused on the efficient utilization of clean energy, advancing the energy transition, and fostering innovation in smart energy technologies. As a specialized exhibition platform in the clean energy sector, this year’s expo drew 150 participating companies, including State Grid, China National Nuclear Corporation, PowerChina, Zhengtai, Xinxin, JA Solar, LONGi Green Energy, Talesun Photovoltaic, AE Solar, and Hengtong Electric, and attracted more than 30,000 visitors.

As one of the key highlights of this year’s expo, the “Celebrating Seventy Years: Grand Ceremony for Innovative Development in Clean Energy” awards ceremony was held concurrently. Wang Baixing, Chairman of the Board of Zhongli Group, was honored as the “2019 China Outstanding Contributor to Clean Energy” in recognition of his remarkable contributions in recent years to advancing clean energy development, photovoltaic poverty alleviation, corporate social responsibility, and economic and environmental sustainability. Talesun Photovoltaic was awarded the “2019 Enterprise with the Most Outstanding Contributions.”

To mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and to comprehensively review the current status and achievements of China’s clean energy sector over the past seven decades, China Energy News, together with the China Institute for Energy Economics and a consortium of research institutions and leading media outlets, has launched the “Outstanding Contributors to China’s Clean Energy” awards. The selection process combines online and offline voting, inviting 300,000 participants to cast their ballots. Ultimately, it recognized a distinguished group of innovative enterprises and meritorious figures who have made significant contributions to the clean energy field—both in China and globally—demonstrating exceptional influence and a strong sense of responsibility.

Outstanding Contributor to Clean Energy in China

Over the years, Wang Baixing has devoted himself to the photovoltaic sector, pioneering the cross‑industry integration of “smart PV + tech‑driven agriculture” and filling a critical gap in the field. He also spearheaded and put into practice the “PV Farm in Impoverished Villages” model, helping hundreds of thousands of impoverished people lift themselves out of poverty and achieve prosperity, thereby charting a new path for industry‑based poverty alleviation.
As land becomes increasingly scarce, the innovative “smart photovoltaics + tech‑driven agriculture” model has broken through land‑use constraints by integrating solar power with large‑scale farming—such as rice cultivation—thereby significantly boosting land utilization and the overall economic returns of solar installations. This approach has emerged as a key strategy for enhancing the profitability of grid‑parity PV projects. Building on this success, Talesun Photovoltaic has pioneered a targeted poverty‑alleviation initiative called the “Poverty‑Stricken Village PV Farm,” helping impoverished villages develop 0.5‑MW solar farms that can deliver stable, 25‑year income streams to more than 120 impoverished residents per village, thus achieving genuine poverty reduction and sustainable livelihoods. To date, Talesun Photovoltaic has supported 73 poverty‑stricken counties nationwide in establishing such PV farms, benefiting over 800,000 people living in poverty.

During this year’s expo, Talesun Photovoltaic actively participated in key events and showcased a range of module products at the exhibition, including the HIPRO TP678M high-efficiency monocrystalline 78-cell module, the FEATHER TP6H72P high-efficiency polycrystalline 144-cell module, the BISTAR TP6H72M high-efficiency monocrystalline 144-cell module, and others. These offerings drew significant attention, with numerous guests and visitors stopping by to learn more.

At several high‑quality, forward‑looking thematic conferences held concurrently, Talesun Photovoltaic made its voice heard in the industry through a series of keynote speeches, sharing its explorations and practical experiences in areas such as energy development strategies, research on new‑product industries, and international cooperation on clean power under the Belt and Road Initiative. In doing so, it actively contributed Talesun expertise and efforts to advancing the energy transition and the integrated development of clean energy.
